England on Detours: Sweet, Sugar, Candy Girl

15 Kilo Gepäck für den Flug nach Hause oder doch 20 Kilo? Als ich merkte, dass mein Rucksack selbst mitsamt Weihnachtsgeschenken keine 17 Kilo auf die Waage bringt, dachte ich mir, es gehört ja kulturell praktisch auch dazu, ein paar Lebensmittel, um genauer zu sein Süßigkeiten und Snacks, mit nach Deutschland zu bringen. Echt englische natürlich. Marken, die man uns nur für teures Geld in speziellen englischen oder amerikanischen Shops bekommt und man sich dann vielleicht doch lieber für Milka entscheidet.

Ab ging es also zu Sainsbury's, auch ein Supermarkt, den es bei uns nicht gibt, nicht so wie Aldi oder Lidl, die es zu meiner Überraschung auch an jeder Ecke Englands und Irlands gab. Geplündert hab ich dann hauptsächlich die Keks- und Schokoladenregale, die für meine Leute daheim dann auch am meisten hergegeben haben. Es gab zwar auch ein paar andere echt englische Sachen, die ich gerne mitgenommen hätte, aber wie transportiert man bitte eine kleine Flasche Milch? Und, wenn ich so drüber nachdenke, wäre mir auch niemand eingefallen, der sich über einen Pint Milch zu Weihnachten gefreut hätte. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.

Ich hab auf jeden Fall die meisten Produkte mal abgelichtet, und vielleicht gibt es da draußen ja auch jemanden, der sich an Food Hauls genau so freut wie ich das tue. Und ja, echt englisch!

There was one thing I absolutely had to do after I've packed my backpack and realised I've got around three more spare kilos: Go to Sainsbury's and have a huuuuge food shopping spree. Yeeeees! What I wanted basically were products which I really enjoyed in my time in England and Ireland and which I cannot get in Germany. Well, some brands are actually available in special English or American Shops, but who likes to spend 5 euro on a chocolate bar which would only cost you around one pound in England. Right, not me.

There were quite a few things I wanted to show my people back in Germany and also things I ate throughout my time abroad, so therefore I sort of thought they could mend my wanderlust once it gets bad again.

"Off to Sainsbury's!" I said, grabbed my bag and after 10 minutes walking I reached my supermarket chocolate (and snacks) heaven. Now, you don't have to tell me that there are plenty of other and definitely better spots to get amazing chocolate in London, but I just wanted to put the emphasis on English products. Cadbury, Thornton's or Terry's. Brands which are fully British because that's where I mostly spent the last seven months of my life. Besides chocolate and biscuits I wanted to get a lot more things, but how do you transport a pint of milk? And apart from that question, who would actually be happy about a pint of milk for Christmas? Even if it's from England. (I still can't really get used to German milk bottles again, British ones look a lot cooler.)

Anyway, I took some chocolatey shots of the products which you might enjoy if you're a food haul fanatic like me. And yep, real British.
